Kevin Parker is a member of the Group Executive Committee of Deutsche Bank, as well as being Global Head of Deutsche Asset Management, which manages over €500 billion across a broad range of asset classes globally. He is based in New York. He joined Deutsche Bank in June of 1997. Before taking up his current role at DeAM, he served as the Global Head of Institutional Equities from 2000 – 2004 and from 1997 – 2000 was responsible for building and developing Deutsche Bank’s Equity Derivatives, Prime Brokerage Services, Equity Trading and Equity Proprietary Trading Businesses. Prior to joining DB, he worked at Morgan Stanley in a variety of positions including Head of Asian Derivatives, Global Head of Equity Derivatives Trading, and Chief Information Officer. His personal commitment to the climate change issue originally developed through his ownership of a vineyard the Languedoc region of France over the last 15 years. During that time, the vineyard, which produces the award winning Chateau Maris wine, has become an entirely bio-dynamic and sustainable venture. “We have shown over the last decade or so that this approach simply produces higher quality wine,” he says. Through his work with the vineyard, Kevin became interested in the wider issues of renewable energy. When he became global head of Deutsche Asset Management in 2003, he quickly identified climate change as one of the major trends that would drive investment markets over the coming decades. “This is probably the single biggest global investment trend of my lifetime and we would not be serving our clients well if we did not focus our energy on it.” As a result, DeAM now has over $4 billion of assets under management in this sector, making it one of the largest climate change investors in the world. |
