SESSION 2: GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES & POLICY DRIVERS
This session begins with a global perspective and then focuses on US Policy. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passed by Congress in February this year, provides $787bn in appropriations, including $37.5bn for energy efficiency and renewable energy. This session will examine how the implementation of the Act, along with other policy initiatives including financial crisis actions and the prospective adoption of federal legislation on energy and climate policy, will affect renewable energy companies today and in the future. This session will look at the new government incentive grant and other structures, the new role of cash equity, the new players that are working the renewable energy market, and how investors will deploy financial resources in order to take advantage of the opportunities in today’s market.
