Christopher Gladbach, a Partner in the Washington, D.C., office, is a member of the Energy and Infrastructure group. Chris was recently elected to serve on Law360’s 2018 Project Finance editorial advisory board.
Chris counsels energy and infrastructure clients structuring complex equity and debt investments, including tax equity investments. Chris advises both buyers and sellers in the power sector in mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, and on the development of large-scale energy projects. He assists his clients in mitigating and allocating risk associated with these transactions in conjunction with achieving their primary business and financial objectives.
Chris is co-head of Orrick’s Defense Energy Task Force. He has extensive experience advising clients pursuing opportunities involving Defense Department energy projects, and working to develop and finance those projects. Chris counsels developers, purchasers, lenders and tax equity investors in the nuances of Government Contracts and how to structure project development and financing arrangements to account for unique risks presented by Government Contracting considerations.
Another focus of his practice is representing private equity funds and institutional investors in transactions involving power assets. He has counseled his clients through a variety of market-leading transactions in this area, and understands the unique challenges and opportunities that these clients face. Chris is a frequent speaker and writer on topics related to private equity and institutional investments in power assets.
Chris also regularly counsels clients on cross-border investments in energy projects and companies. Recent engagements include working with project sponsors and investors from Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, South Korea, China and Japan on structuring both inbound and outbound energy investments.
