John Douglas is the co-founder, CEO and Director of oneGRID Corp. a developer of HVDC transmission projects in North and South America based in Toronto. oneGRID’s lead project is the Empire State Connector a 1,000 MW HVDC transmission line that will connect upstate renewables near Utica, NY to New York City via a submarine cable underneath the Erie Canal and Hudson River. Mr. Douglas is also the Chairman of Pacifico HVDC Link a 1,000 MW HVDC transmission project that will connect Peru to Chile. He also continues to serve as a director Lake Erie Power Corp. who sold their Lake Erie Connector a 1,000 MW HVDC transmission line that will connect Ontario to Pennsylvania using a submarine cable under Lake Erie to ITC Holdings a Fortis Company in 2014. Mr. Douglas is also a director of Transmission Developers Inc. who developed the Champlain Hudson Power Express a 1,000 MW HVDC transmission line from Montreal to New York City using a submarine cable under the Hudson River sold to Blackstone in 2010.

Previously, Mr. Douglas was the founder, President and CEO of Ventus Energy Inc. one of Canada’s leading wind developers which was sold to GDF SUEZ in 2007. Ventus developed and constructed the 99 MW West Cape Wind Farm in Prince Edward Island which became the first wind farm in Canada to export wind energy into the United States. Prior to Ventus, Mr. Douglas was a Managing Director of Investment Banking at Sprott Securities (now Cormark) and participated in the management led buy-out of the firm from its extraordinary founder Eric Sprott. Previous to that, Mr. Douglas worked at Ernst & Young in Toronto for nine years.

Mr. Douglas is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator. He received a BA in Economics from the University of Waterloo.
